Hailing from Dhaka City, Jalali Set just dropped an album in style. Titled ‘Level 13‘, the guys at Jalali Set made sure the title meant something special by taking the launch party to a whole another level! Jalali Set dropped the album, dropped a music video, and had a sold out concert to celebrate the launch – All at once!
As Hip Hop fans flocked into the concert hall, the album and the music video started to go viral and caused quite a social media frenzy in Bangladesh.
Jalali Set showed how they absorbed old school Hip Hop influences that they grew up with, and added their own influence of Bangladesh, and morphed their music into a unique form of Bangla Hip Hop that stands out from the rest.
Album Review
And, luckily, i spent the past 2 days listening to the album (thanks to Google Play & Spotify), and I already know why it became an instant hit among Bangla Hip Hop fans all over. The crew’s delivery is raw and energetic. And their style of hip hop is nothing like Hip Hop from any other part of the world.
Jalali Set showed how they absorbed old school Hip Hop influences that they grew up with, and added their own influence of Bangladesh, and morphed their music into a unique form of Bangla Hip Hop that stands out from the rest.
It’s almost like how if anyone in the world listens to Raggae music, they instantly know that it’s music that originated from Jamaica. Much like that, Jalali Set has created their own brand of Bangla Hip Hop that is so unique that listeners will relate the Jalali style of music as Hip Hop that originated from Bangladesh, even numerous years from now.
As I listen to the album, I am impressed by their intense delivery and flow. The whole crew went hard on every track and brought an energy matched by none. Their collaborations were also very unique with some insane flows by Nizam Rabby, Pollob Vai, and Skibkhan (one of the founders of Deshi MCs).
Ek er Maal (feat. Pollob Vai & Nizam Rabby) is one of those collaborations that I had to listen to on repeat. Bonobasher Shadon is also another unique track with a dope Desi beat. They used the music video of Bonobasher Shadon to launch the album, which is an exceptional decision just because of how unique the entire track really is – with dope flows, and an insanely unique beat, it had to act as the launch pad of the album.
Overall, this is an album that will be remembered years down the line because of the artists’ unique flows, and the unique Desi beats they composed for the album.
Album & Music Video Went Viral in Bangladesh
The album went viral on social media as soon as the album dropped and the music video dropped at the same time – while the live album launch concert was taking place in front of a sold out crowd!
A simple search on Facebook for ‘Jalali Set’ shows upwards of 46,000 people talking about it currently. No wonder it’s gone viral!
