Bangalore, India — The preliminary rounds for Rap Wars, a nationwide rap battling competition, kick started in Bangalore. Rap Wars is one of the biggest events at Oasis, the second largest cultural fest in India. On May 29, some of the the city’s grooviest rappers battled with electrifying performances at blueFrog, Bangalore. The event provided an excellent platform for rappers to showcase their abilities and develop a greater fan following. The evening was about nonstop battling featuring rappers like Nickita, Sunny, Abby Gogo and Sage. The action packed performances by Nickita and Sage made them qualify to the finals where they battled against each other. With his impromptu rapping skills and confidence Sage was announced the winner of Bangalore Prelims. Rap artists Sumukh Mysore aka Smokey and Akulu Shashank aka Xstacy Sash judged the participants.
Rapper and host Samir Rishu Mohanty aka Big Deal as well as city’s popular DJ Panic added sparkle to the event. With the event full of music lovers from the city, the audience had reason to cheer with the some of the best of Bangalore’s rappers coming together. Aiming towards nurturing and establishing the rap culture in India, Rap Wars has become the destination for all rappers. “While Mumbai has a class of its own with rugged rapping styles, Bangalore has some good number of talented rappers,” says Smokey. Rap Wars Bangalore was a huge success and will be followed by battles in Delhi at Social Offline, Hauz Khas on 3rd June. Further Prelims to take place at Mumbai and Kolkata with dates soon to be announced. The finals will be held in BITS Pilani campus during Oasis ‘16 between the 19th and 23rd of October, when the event will be staged for an audience of more than 3,000 people.
