Nindy Kaur, also the wife of acclaimed singer and producer Manjeet Ral of RDB, began singing at the age of 10. Raised in the U.K. and surrounded by the beats and rhythms of Birmingham’s Bhangra bands, she grew up as a child who would save her lunch money to buy every single Bhangra album upon release.
It was a given obvious that Bhangra music would soon become the prime influence in shaping her future as a singer. Her dad would pick up all the old folk-Punjabi records such as Ranjit Kaur and Mohammad Sadiqu, while Nindy and her brother would dance to them. Though Bhangra has always been a large influence in her musical style, she seeks to accept and shape her music from a bit of Pop and Rock to even Hip-Hop and Bollywood.
Nindy has self-taught herself the art of singing and has spent years developing her vocal skills in both Punjabi and Hindi. Her main goal as an artist is to be true to her culture and reflect that in her vocals. She has never once forgotten where she’s come from and has kept true to her culture both vocally and personally.
It was in 2004 was when Nindy Kaur made her stage debut as she toured the United States with Shezad Roy & Sukhbir. After that, there was no stopping this singer; she became a household name to music enthusiasts across the nation as her presence in music became more vivid as her relationship with RDB grew.
With a smile on her face, Nindy says, “It’s a long Bollywood fantasy story and would take me all day to tall you about it. But Manj and I met quite randomly; we fell in love and married instantly. The next thing you know, Manj has got me in the vocal booth singing.”
Her talent was obvious to Manj and she went on record more with RDB, eventually leading to her performing on the same stage with actor Akshay Kumar at the Toronto Film Festival. Nindy instantly became an overnight success, with both the younger and the older generation, both in awe of her captivating and charismatic vocals. And Nindy’s her relationship isn’t just strong with Manj; his brothers Kuly and Surj have been just as supportive in jump-starting Nindy’s career as a singer. “They have always been supportive and behind me,” Nindy asserts, “they are great brother in-laws and I love the fact that everything is within the family.” Together all three have become an indestructible team and a force no to mess around with.
Nindy’s debut release was the track “Aja Sajana” which was featured on the album “Danger 3” by Untouchables Records. From there she also released “Gur Nalo Ishq” and “Gidha Pao,” which were both featured on DJH’s debut album.
Nindy recently recorded two songs for Aftab Shivadasani’s upcoming movie, “Aloo Chaat,” (releasing worldwide on December 19, 2008) in which RDB and herself are also in the music video! In addition to that, Nindy’s entrancing vocals will also be heard on two tracks on RDB’s forthcoming album, releasing in early 2009. Nindy’s solo album is also set to release in 2009 as well! And if that wasn’t enough, keep your eyes and ears ready for this one – Nindy will be touring with RDB in early 2009 for their album release as well!
Nindy’s voice is like a breath of fresh air and has already created an impressive resume, making her name synonymous to that of her singing talents. She is determined to take this industry by storm and won’t cease until she’s succeeded.
