We’ve been hearing about the single titled ‘Desi Hip Hop’ since the BritAsia TV Awards. But the track is finally droppin’ on Jan 10th. The single features Manj Musik, Raftaar, Raxstar, Badshah, Humble the Poet, Roach Killa, and Sarb Smooth.
It’s good to see so many different artists on a collaboration of this sort. The basic motto that we at DesiHipHop.com live by – Unity through Hip Hop – is something that we’ve been working on since day 1, and we finally see artists uniting to live up to that. We’ve gone through hell and back to bring forth the real Hip Hop movement to the South Asian audience, and it’ll be interesting to see if these artists actually live up to it.
The DesiHipHop movement which originated in the West Coast by pioneers such as Bohemia, J.Hind, Haji Springer and many others is finally starting to create global waves, and hopefully soon we’ll see a change in the movement across the UK, Europe, and worldwide. Our inside sources tell us that Bohemia is about to release a song with the same title – ‘Desi Hip Hop’ – soon, and that will undoubtedly fire up the Bohemia fans. But, we believe that no sort of animosity is required because at the end of the day, all Desi artists need to start working with each other instead of against each other to get mainstream recognition. Do you think these artists can express the true essence of Hip Hop through this song?
