West London rapper Swami Baracus is having quite the week. Having already been selected to perform on the BBC Introducing stage at this year’s prestigious T In The Park festival in Scotland, his track ‘The Recipe‘ has now been added to the BBC Radio 1 playlist next week, looking to cook up the daytime airwaves!

After enlisting the services of top producer Zaheer, ‘The Recipe’ was initially released last year and generated mass coverage and credibility from numerous industry peers. However it was the support from Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music, who regularly played it on his ‘Introducing’ show, that really increased the momentum of it’s eventual success. Having recommended SB for a slot on the BBC Introducing stage at this year’s T In The Park, ‘The Baracuda’ was selected from numerous acts to be performing on Sunday 8th July and is the only urban act on the Introducing stage that day! The performance will include tracks featured on his mixtape and forthcoming single ‘Hyper’. However, more was to come…

‘The Recipe’ was then also selected to be added to the BBC Radio 1 playlist from 9th July, for a week under the Introducing slot! Meaning it will receive coverage from all major daytime shows including Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills and Huw Stephens! A huge achievement from an independent track with no record label, management, PR or marketing deal. Listen out to hear ‘The Recipe’ stir up the airwaves to a mainstream audience!

Rapper Swami Baracus has been on the music scene for a number of years and has previously recorded material with Nutty P, Mystro, Genesis Elijah, AC, Mic Assassin and General Levy. Having received substantial airplay from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music (Tom Robinson), BBC 1Xtra, Kiss 100 and BBC Asian Network, Baracus has performed at the UK Asian Music Awards press launch and was the first Asian rapper, to be featured on the UK Dubstate segment on DJ Excalibahs legendary ‘Tales From The Legend’ Hip-Hop show on BBC 1Xtra. Baracus is also the winner of the Asian 8-Mile MC Battle contest, which took place at ‘Bombay Bronx’ hosted by Radio 1 DJ Nihal. He was nominated for a BritAsia Award in 2011, for Best Urban Asian Act and this year won three Bronze awards (Best Hip-Hop Act, Best Hip-Hop song and Best Cross-Genre) at the Bite My Music Global awards. His forthcoming single Hyper and mixtape The Recipe are both releasing later this Summer!
