Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client’s past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals. During cognitive behavioral therapy in Massachusetts, clients work with a trained counselor to identify negative thinking patterns and change them. This change in thinking has been shown to lead to changes in behavior to treat substance use and mental health disorders effectively. Referral Process

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan.

New Life House

To start the referral process, Case Managers will need to send our team a completed New Life House Referral Form, Bio Psych Social, and Medication List. We do not receive any commission or fee that is dependent upon which treatment provider a caller chooses. The house is really laid back and definitely gives you a feeling of home. Transitional housing is temporary housing for the working homeless population and is set up to transition their residents to permanent housing. Please ensure that the Applicant meets the New Life House Admission Criteria prior to downloading the Referral Form (links at the bottom of the page).

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket. This assessment will help create your personalized treatment plan.Your plan will include weekly individual counseling, psychoeducational groups and gender specific sessions. You will be able to address issues like trauma, parenting and domestic violence. The New Life House mission is to help residents live productively and achieve long term recovery. We use a holistic approach; physical, mental, and spiritual with a strong emphasis on social inclusion with regards to racial, ethnic, socio-economic status, disability, health, and sexual orientation.

The Organization also provides transitional housing to provide extended supports as individuals work to successfully manage sobriety. New Life House is a nonprofit residential recovery center in Allston, Massachusetts that has provided helpful support since 1982. They provide treatment for adult men and women battling substance use disorders like alcoholism and drug addiction.This is a 22 bed, coed facility that offers a six month holistic program. To ensure accessibility, they accept Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance and offer sliding scale fees.

I am grateful for the many many lessons I learned from my fellow staff and from the remarkable residents. Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members. With a deeply held belief that long-term recovery is both life-saving and attainable for our clients, Erik will bring his compassion and dedication to bear in this role. We place a strong emphasis on welcoming residents with disabilities, though our residents form a true mosaic of life, from all cultures and walks of life.

Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider. Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn’t from the New Life House Review state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace.

Prior to joining New Life House, Erik practiced law in Connecticut and Massachusetts in a sole proprietorship and within firms. Most recently, Erik served at a residential program for persons with developmental disability, advancing that program’s quality of service and professionalism over the course of years. Having worked intermittently in human services since 2003, Erik has a proven record of commitment to upholding client rights, dignity; and furthering service coordination and support. Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. Treatment empowers individuals to manage these issues without the use of drugs.

Intake Coordinator

We are a family; one that exists to help residents realize for themselves the potential within themselves and their lives after addiction. Finding with them the person they were, and the person they are yet to become, free of addiction. During family therapy, the therapist works with every member of the family unit to understand the role they play in their loved one’s addiction. By addressing these patterns, family members learn healthier ways to interact with each other and contribute to a more effective recovery journey for the family member who is addicted. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well.
