Erik has successfully demonstrated skills in evaluating regulatory and contract matters, client advocacy, developing client relationships and management. Mary-Kate comes to the New Life House with a wealth of management as well as life experience. Mary-Kate has always felt passionate about taking care of others, and spreading the knowledge of self-care. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries.

They use evidence based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and 12 step facilitation. These forms of therapy will help tackle addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges like depression or PTSD. Most recently, Erik served at a residential program for persons with developmental disability, advancing that program’s quality of service and professionalism over the course of years.

He is also treasurer for the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery. A native of Oak Square in Brighton, he is also a long-term member of Allston-Brighton PAUSES,  formerly the Allston Brighton Substance Abuse Task Force, so coming to work at New Life House is kind of a homecoming. Mary-Kate believes in a holistic approach towards helping clients achieve long-term sobriety, and is thrilled to continue on her path in working in recovery with the Granada team.

Ky helps create a welcoming environment here at New Life House through their intake process and making sure each resident feels seen and welcomed. Joe has also been involved in many substance abuse treatment related organizations in the community. He currently serves as president of the Massachusetts Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors.

I am grateful for the many many lessons I learned from my fellow staff and from the remarkable residents. Joe brings almost 30 years of experience in the Substance Abuse treatment field to New Life House, covering a wide range of expertise. His first full-time position was at New Life House in Boston as Business Manager. Prior to that, he was working in the accounting department of Badger Engineers, a subsidiary of Raytheon.

Having worked intermittently in human services since 2003, Erik has a proven record of commitment to upholding client rights, dignity; and furthering service coordination and support. We place a strong emphasis on welcoming residents with disabilities, though our residents form a true mosaic of life, from all cultures and walks of life. We are a family; one that exists to help residents realize for themselves the potential within themselves and their lives after addiction. Finding with them the person they were, and the person they are yet to become, free of addiction. During family therapy, the therapist works with every member of the family unit to understand the role they play in their loved one’s addiction. By addressing these patterns, family members learn healthier ways to interact with each other and contribute to a more effective recovery journey for the family member who is addicted.
