She originally moved from New York to Boston to attend Northeastern University of Law, earning her JD and practicing law for over 20 years. For a number of reasons, her interest in treatment of those with substance use disorders grew resulting first in part-time work in a men’s recovery home, while still practicing law. This was followed by completion of the Addiction Course and certification through UMASS.

Vijay brings a diverse background in Social Work, Non-Profit Operations, Program Development, Clinical Oversight and Financial Management to New Beginning Recovery. Vijay’s experience also spans in the areas of Information Technology, Contract Administration, Quality Assurance, and Organizational Leadership . Vijay has been consistently recognized for outstanding contributions to the bottom line and solid reputation for resolving complex issues. Commended for efficiency, priority management, communication, and presentation skills. Prior to joining New Beginning Recovery, Erik practiced law in Connecticut and Massachusetts in a sole proprietorship and within firms. Most recently, Erik served at a residential program for persons with developmental disability, advancing that program’s quality of service and professionalism over the course of years.

Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District.

New Beginning Recovery, Inc.is a Massachusetts not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1982. The purpose of the organization is to provide residential-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation support services in the greater Boston Massachusetts area. The organization’s programs provide a structured rehabilitation environment for individuals recovering from addiction. The Organization also provides transitional housing to provide extended supports as individuals work to successfully manage sobriety. New Beginning Recovery Inc offers recovery support services dedicated to helping patients get back on their feet and continue their recovery.

Payment support

During this time, New Beginning Recovery transitioned from its longtime home in the South End to a new facility in lower Roxbury. Since 2011, he has also held a position as an instructor in the Alcohol Counselor Education Program at UMass Boston. There is a moment when a person decides that they, too, are ready to live a truly productive life.

He currently serves as president of the Massachusetts Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors. He is also treasurer for the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery. A native of Oak Square in Brighton, he is also a long-term member of Allston-Brighton PAUSES,  formerly the Allston Brighton Substance Abuse Task Force, so coming to work at New Beginning Recovery is kind of a homecoming. Erik brings significant experience in human services, non-profit management, and general legal practice to New Beginning Recovery. Erik has successfully demonstrated skills in evaluating regulatory and contract matters, client advocacy, developing client relationships and management. We place a strong emphasis on welcoming residents with disabilities, though our residents form a true mosaic of life, from all cultures and walks of life.
