When I asked Black Zang about his thoughts, he mentioned, “This is an immense opportunity to represent South Asian Hip Hop to the world. We have our own language, our own style, our own interests in Hip Hop. The rest of the world will now see what WE are up to.”
As Desi Hip Hop decided to focus more on Desi artists world wide, we quickly realized the South Asian Desi taste of Hip Hop. “The world needs to see and feel the Desi energy. That’s what I want to accomplish in the UK. I wanna make Bangladeshi people and Desis proud all over the world!”, exclaimed Black Zang while on his way to the airport.
Super proud to announce that I will be heading for the United Kingdom soon to take part in the project "Beats Without…
Dee MC also added: “Overwhelmed by this opportunity, proud to represent my homeland overseas. It’s international time!”
This will definitely be quite an opportunity for Desis in the UK to relate to these amazingly talented artists in 1 place. They got Skepta, we got Black Zang, Naezy, Dee MC, Ashanti. They got Grime, we got Desi Hip Hop. And it’s beyond due for the entire world to experience the hype.
Joining the team from Sri Lanka is Ashanthi. Her first major label album was Oba Magemai released in 2006. Followed by her debut solo album Sandawathuren – which was released in 2006. This was the first hip hop solo album to be released by a Sri Lankan female.
After numerous successful singles and songs trending worldwide, Naezy was an obvious choice to include in this tour. The man puts in work constantly, and he gets rewarded as expected. Yet again, he is embarking on a tour that will surely impact the way audiences view the entire Desi Hip Hop movement.
