Manpreet Singh is our artist in focus today. He is a Bhopal-based sketch artist who did fall in love with hip hop at an early age. Being from a Sikh family, music has always been running in his bloodstream. When it comes to hip hop, it has been an important part of his life.
He fell in love with hip hop when he first heard ‘All Eyez On Me‘ by Tupac Shakur back in 2004 while studying in the eighth grade. He has been studying the origin, culture, types and everything else about hip hop since then. When I asked about the importance of hip hop in his life, he said, “I think hip-hop is not just a genre but a revolution which has given a new kind of inspirational music to the world. It has always been there as a support, an inspiration and a source of positivity”.
Manpreet claims that practising daily has been his routine since the time he first picked up a pencil while studying in the sixth grade to draw some sketch. He is a sketch artist who has been working on his art from a very long time now.
His work with pencil is worth the appreciation. I believe that people like him are supporting the growth of hip hop scene by doing the same thing on the paper that a graffiti artist does on the walls. He has sketched the faces of many legendary rappers, like of Eminem, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and many others. He has also sketched desi artists like Lazarus, Raxstar etc.
His love is not only restricted to hip-hop. He has also sketched artists like Gurdas Maan, Kishore Kumar and others.
We strongly believe that Manpreet‘s talent is extraordinary and he is definitely a soldier in the hip hop army. His work is available on his social media links and we strongly recommend everyone to check that out.
