The popularity of Electronic music has reached its zenith, We have seen an array of artists from various genre collaborating with EDM artists in recent times but Hip-Hop is one major area that has experienced deeper connections with various bass-leaning electronic sub-genres, with artists such as Shlohmo and Clams Casino earning followings that rival those of the artists they produce.
In the past years Shade 45 mainly known to music fans as one of Sirius XM’s largest homes to hip-hop music, but now it appears that they have temporarily strayed into the world of dance music with the hosting of three guest mixes on a single day. Yesterday marked a special 2017 Festival Weekend iteration of the channel’s regular G-Unit Saturdays feature hence the special guests.
Aired yesterday between 10 am – 6 pm live on the Chanel, Skrillex, Diplo, and Steve Aoki handled the decks with guest mixes from each of the produces. All three producers were familiar to an urban/hip-hop audience as they have collaborated with plenty of hip-hop artist in the past.
Diplo has a long history in the urban music world from not only the Major Lazer project but also from his work with M.I.A. in addition to producing for some hottest pop names on the planet.
Steve Aoki has also featured plenty of rap stars in the past including Kid Ink, Waka Flocka Flame, Future, Lil John while Skrillex has done the same and currently working with Pusha T, A$ap Rocky, Rick Ross, Vic Mensa, The Game to name a few.
