Kamesh ‘Rob C‘ Chawla is one of the initial members who founded Kala Kurta Gang with Sikander Kahlon. He achieved his share of fame by spitting rhymes in English for almost 5 years but switched his primary language to Punjabi almost a couple of years ago.
Rob C is a Panchkula, Haryana-based rapper & music producer who is known for tracks like ‘Troublesome‘, ‘Beast Within‘, ‘Gaddi‘, ‘Pow Pow‘ & many others. These tracks have earned him some massive respect in the scene. He is here with ‘Rap Heavyweight‘ & it’s classic Rob C on it.
“Main rap karaan ajj jivein aana naiyo kal, Main rap karaan ajj taaki changa hove kal”
‘Rap Heavyweight’ came out on Raaj Jones‘ Youtube channel & was originally created to be released as a ‘Raaj Jones’ Exclusive‘. I was curious to know the reason behind this venture so I approached Kamesh to clear out the clouds of my doubts. He told me that Raaj gave him a call & discussed his need for a song that he wanted him (Kamesh) to do for his ‘Raaj Jones’ Exclusive’ segment to which Rob agreed. He produced the beat on the same day and the final track took almost seven days for its completion. That’s how ‘Rap Heavyweight’ was born.
This track has 90’s old-school Boom-Bap feel to it & that’s the main reason I liked it. Those who’ve been following Kamesh’s music from more than 4 years now are aware of his sense of using smart bars & punches in his verses. This time, he did the same classic thing in Punjabi. “Ye beat hona chaundi kill yaara enu roko, Underground rap on T.V. mera motto” is an example of what he has actually done on this track. This is a treat for his close listeners while some of his casual listeners are going to question his opinions.
Rob did everything by himself. He produced the beat & sat down later to write his lyrics. Mixing & Mastering was handled by him too & his association with Raaj Jones is already a hot topic in the underground scene.
