Nominations For 2017 BET Awards Are Here!

The BET Awards established by Black Entertainment Television announced their list of nominations for their 17th award ceremony. The award show will be held on June 25, 2017 in Los Angeles. The ceremony celebrates achievements in black entertainment and honors music, sports, television, and movies released between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. With no surprises, Beyoncé has the most nominations because of her success with the album “Lemonade” and is leading the pack with 7 nominations.

Hip-Hop has evolved since April 2016 and the nominations for this year is epic. J Cole‘s “4 Your Eyez Only” and Chance The Rapper‘s “Coloring Book” are two Hip-Hop albums nominated for the category Album Of The Year and faces competition from Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and Solange. Big Sean‘s “Bounce Back” is nominated for Video Of The Year with Migos‘s hit “Bad and Boujee” and faces competition from the same trio Beyoncé , Bruno Mars and Solange.

With Kendrick Lamar‘s “Damn” releasing after March 31, “King Kunta” still has two nominations in the category Best Collaboration for “Freedom” with Beyonce and Best Hip-Hop artist. Also this year’s best group are all Hip-Hop acts solidifying that the genre of Hip-Hop has taken over.

The UK grime Hip-Hop scene is also at blast with two international nominations. Stormzy and Skepta are both nominated for Best International Act: Europe along with rappers Giggs and Wiley. The African rappers Cassper Nyovest and Aka are also nominated for Best International Act: Africa
