Last week passed the 20th anniversary of the murder of Tupac Shakur, the rapper was gunned down on Las Vegas Boulevard after watching a mike Tyson fight. The killer(s) has/have never been caught, but there has always been much speculation as to who was involved and who actually killed not only Tupac but also east coast rapper Biggie Smalls.
Some have always believed that the murders were connected and that somewhere in that mystery there are cops from the LAPD involved. A investigator by the name of Russell Poole who is a retired LAPD detective, was investigating the murders of Tupac and Biggie Smalls at the time.
News recently broke that none other than Johnny Depp will be taking on the role of Detective Poole for a the movie which is reportedly titled ‘Labyrinth’. The movie will be directed by Brad Furman according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Poole reports that as for the Murder of The Notorious BIG, there may have been the hand of some ‘gangsta cops’ who we’re on the payroll of convicted felon and Death Row Records C.E.O Suge Knight. Michael Douglas Carlin, co-author of “Chaos Merchants: Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG” with Poole, said that the former detective believed Biggie’s murder was a planned assassination by Death Row and Suge Knight.
“And he blamed Suge for it. And he was very vocal about that,” Carlin said. “And he was going to the sheriff’s to apologize to Suge Knight and tell the investigators that they had this case against Suge that’s crumbling. And to abandon that case and get on board with solving the two biggest mysteries in rock n’ roll history. Or in music history…He felt very bad.”
We’ll update on when we have more news on the movie but needless to say, it’s gonna be one highly anticipated film by both Tupac and Biggie fans around the world.
