Kailash Kher is possibly among the last few talented Bollywood singers. He has a rather strong opinion regarding Sonakshi Sinha opening for Justin Bieber‘s gig on 10th May. The Padma Shri award-winning singer-composer feels that letting Sonakshi Sinha open for Justin Bieber will not be a good sign internationally. He feels that there are plenty of other noted singers who could and should do the same. The following is what Kailash Kher said in an interview,
“They (people from foreign shores) will think that Sonakshi must be a big singer in India. And then she will get concert offers from Canada, and then probably Sonakshi will laugh them off saying ‘I am not a singer but an actor”.
Well, this is somewhat true, event managers use actors instead of singers to match up to the hype of the visiting artists.
Well, this has been a trend in India. Shah Rukh Khan opened up for Jay-Z at the Global Citizen Awards, HOVA was in India at a time when Hip-Hop is spreading like wildfire. Kailash Kher also added,
“Live performances are thought to be more valuable around the world, not actors, but not in India. Indians are very emotional and that is why sometimes they miss out logic while watching a live gig. The organisers don’t consider crowd’s sensibilities and only go for a popular face. Often actors just come and say ‘It is nice to here.”
