Pune, INDIA – A historic event for the music scene in India, All India Dub Conference marks the first time the country’s two reggae sound systems come face to face. Bass Foundation Roots, built in New Delhi by Delhi Sultanate and 10,000 Lions, built in Goa by an international team including Reggae Rajahs, Petah Sunday and Realoveution Hi-Fly were both meticulously handcrafted over the past year.
Rahul Mangal, the organiser of AIDC, says “We chose Pune as the location for this momentous occasion because we feel the reggae scene has really developed well here over the last few years. The High Spirits Café programs a lot of reggae acts at their venue and this has contributed significantly to the popularity of the genre in the city.”
The two sound systems that will be showcased are tailor made to enforce the heavy bass lines and captivating the melodies which Reggae is famous for. “This is the optimum way to experience the power of reggae music, as a sound system has the ability to generate intense bass frequencies that can vibrate bodies and objects in their immediate vicinity. Through a sound system, music becomes a collective physical experience,” Mangal goes on to say.
AIDC is scheduled to happen at Aishwarya Farms, a legendary outdoor venue that is being revived especially for the event. According to Mangal, “Once we saw the potential of Aishwarya Farms, we realised it was the perfect space for this event. It’s located just a few kilometres from Koregaon Park and gives us enough space to create the atmosphere we want. Expect food, drinks, stalls and a lot of good vibes!”
