We, at DesiHipHop.com, try to pick the releases that circles everywhere on the social media throughout the week. “KALAM” – THE SIEGE

Mumbai-based rapper, The Siege, released a powerful music video for his single “Kalam” this past week. “Kalam”, a track that he had written way back in 2016, contains rage and guilt pushed with powerful bars. When asked, Siege calls this song the sound of his soul. Using the art form he is blessed with, he addresses what he sees and observes around him. The video is another treat to the listeners and viewers. Directed by Mumbai-based cinematographer Rahul Chavan of team Rolling Shutter, this video contains visuals that display the rawness and gritty nature of the track.

“PURANA WALA” – BOHEMIA AND J. HIND

Eventually, in a span of seven days, “Purana Wala” was the third announcement which involved the legendary Punjabi rapper.  MTV India announced “Purana Wala” on May 9, 2017 as an exclusive release for MTV Spoken Word 2. It’s a classic release. “Purana Wala” is directed by J Hind himself and was later edited by Kerry Porter. Bohemia produced this track while on the other hand, J-Statik handled the post-production. Kali Denali Music member, Shaxe Oriah, did a cameo in the video of “Purana Wala”.

“LAHORI UNDERDOGS” – AQEEL SARFARAZ, TRAITOR AND RAAMIS

Lahori Underdogs” came out last week and it is one of the hottest drops in Pakistan’s underground scene these days. In addition, the video of “Lahori Underdogs” features cameo from several other artists. Artists like Puneet Kohli, Xpolymer Dar, Osama Com Laude, The KJi, Zenix, M.ZHE, The Ray, Thugzy, Inder Preet, Hashim Nawaz and myself are there in the video. Usman Ghauri aka BCL Blade mixed and mastered the audio. Gawky Records’ head – M.ZHE, edited the video for this track.

“MAA” – DINO JAMES

On the occasion of Mother’s Day, he shared his feelings through his new drop, “Maa”. “Maa” is written and performed by Dino James while Himanshu Tyagi filmed and edited the video. Apart from this, he also conceptualized the whole idea for “Maa”.  Nilesh Patel produced the instrumental for “Maa”.

He quoted, “It’s a small gift for you Maa, I ran out of words how to thank you for what you’ve done. I try to tell you what I feel for you, but I don’t know why I stop, don’t want to delay it any more Maa, and today is a perfect time. I love you Maa.”

“TRICKS AIN’T KINGS” – CROST

Crost is from New Delhi and is a part of Khatarnaak Hip Hop Collective. Crost’s latest release, “Tricks Ain’t Kings” has a clear message for self-proclaimed winners that they mean nothing to Crost. He is quite clear that he means business. The instrumental for this one was produced by Sun J within 15 minutes and the song was shot n edited by him as well. Similarly, Crost says his game has been up cos’ of his crew.
