It’s a new week and that means a new Hot 5!
As you know, there are tonnes of Desi Hip Hop tracks out each week and we try our best to watch out and listen to every one of those. Below are the hot 5 Tracks we’re feeling this week at DHH HQ.
‘BLACK WATER’ – RAIN IN SAHARA
Rain In Sahara is a newly formed crew from Guwahati, Assam and their single ‘Black Water’ speaks for itself. They decided to talk about an issue that most of us put a blind eye on. It’s about the problem of water pollution that has been an issue for mankind. It’s a fusion of Indian classical music, rock and hip-hop. This type of instrumental adds fuel to the aggressive and thoughtful lyrics of these artists. Spanish-American producer and instrumentalist Lain Heringman has formed ‘Rain In Sahara’ with Rocky Glock and Sikdar. This track is a conscious rap single that everyone needs to check out.

‘1 A.M. FREESTYLE’ – L.A.
Lakshya Parihar, who goes by his stage moniker L.A., is a Delhi based rapper from Haldwani, Uttarakhand. He spared no mercy to this instrumental and spat rhymes that are insane. This track is off his mixtape ‘Last Semester‘ and is full of smart bars and punchlines. Bars like “Main sip kar raha hun Tuborg/Haldwani ka main ladka, state of mind New York” and “Tu chal na paega agar tu pehanega mere shoes/Aur main shine karun jaise Bappi Lehri ke jewels” are enough to give you an idea of how smart his punchline game is. Fizzix has done a great job on the visuals part of this track and Grind Music Studios has handled the post production very well.

‘LOOK UPTO’ – BIG DEAL
‘Look Upto’ is the third track on his recently released EP ‘One Kid With A Dream‘. This track is all about how he never had a role model in this game and how he was haunted by the word ‘ambition’. This is a piano-driven instrumental that features his story of losing hope and gathering his courage again to finally make it in the scene. He talks to his parents about how they were not sure about his decision, but now he has made them proud by doing it big. Big Deal has sung the hook of this track very impressively.

‘BACK TO BACK’ – SUKRIT
Sukrit is truly capable of spitting hard and is struggling to cement his position in the Delhi scene. This is a remix of Drake‘s famous single ‘Back to Back‘. The track revolves around the most famous theme in hip-hop i.e portraying themselves as a tough competition to others. This sound is mixed and mastered by Noran at their private studio and sounds brilliant.
