Desi Hip Hop is growing in India and it is growing at a fast rate. There are a tonnes of releases every week and at Desi HipHop, we try our best to watch out and listen to every one of those. Below are hot 5 Hip Hop tracks we’re feeling this week at DHH HQ.
1. Shaheedi – Sikander Kahlon
Sikander Kahlon released ‘Shaheedi‘ to give his tribute to the martyrs who got forgotten with time. ‘Shaheedi’ questions the knowledge that an average person thinks he has & acts like a reality check to those mentalities. This track discusses the condition of today’s world but it’s not sad at all. Sikander’s tape is highly anticipated right now and this is the first promotional single off that tape. Harm Sandhu produced this instrumental for Sikander Kahlon and the video work was handled by Velly from VR Creative.
2. Ailaan-E-Jung – BIG H
Hashim Ishaq aka Big H released this one minute long track to announce his forthcoming mixtape ‘Bigmatic‘. It’s basically based on a classic competitive theme that Hip-Hop has seen from day one, ‘Me Against The World’. Video for this drop was shot by Hassan Ahmed & Butt Broz.
3. Bad Boyz – Sound Shikari & MC Azad (Feat. San Cha & LA)
‘Bad Boyz‘ was planned by Sound Shikari & MC Azad last year. After hopping on to several different ideas, San Cha & LA were added to the track to give this a blend of different flavors. ‘Bad Boyz’ took six months for it’s release and is the first promotional single off Sound Shikari’s forthcoming mixtape ‘Mo Doe‘. This is basically based on the conceptions that people have towards their individual self.
4. Oh Lay – Rap Demon, Young Bone & RAGA
‘Oh Lay‘ came out with a bang and Rap Demon owned it. That’s the word on the streets. ‘Oh Lay’ is all about lyrical skills that all of these rappers have conveyed to the ears of their listeners. RAGA went third and spat a pretty long verse but on the fastest tempo. Power packed with rhyme schemes and different flows, this is a treat to the listeners.
5. Throne – Prolific
It’s the second and the final promotional single before the arrival of his tape in the first month of 2017. A hook that he wrote prior listening to the beat was finalized for the final cut & the verses that he spat were written to show his lyrical skills. If you’re a person who’s into punchlines, this one is for you.
Bhaad Mei Jao – SUN J [BONUS TRACK]
His bars concentrates on the general population who attempt to draw him down and never really helped him in doing what he’s great at now. He appreciates his clique’s support towards him & his hustle. A bar from the song “Bhaari haathi se mere bol, Kuch kehne lage mujhe ‘Desi Cole'” cleared the clouds of doubt regarding his appearance.
