Marshall The III and Puneet Kohli have worked with Raftaar which is a landmark itself. ‘Chill (Raamix)‘ was the joint that made them famous in our Desi Hip-Hop community worldwide. I wrote about how the things went down for them and how the collaboration took it’s final shape in my previous article.
The people have been waiting for them to drop something big after ‘Chill (Raamix)’, so they took it on themselves and created something really big and hot for the fans who survive on their music. Yes, their most awaited single ‘Rimjhim‘ is out now with a music video.
Marshall who is more prominent by his artist name Marshall The III revealed his plans for dropping ‘Rimjhim’ a couple of months ago. This hot single is a collaboration with Puneet Kohli who’s considered as a part of his untitled team. Another rapper who they’ve introduced with themselves is Main-Dope Malhotra. I asked Puneet about how the sound of this track is going to be in my previous interview with him to which he replied: “Our fans and friends were demanding a track from us that they could play in clubs and have a good time”.
‘Rimjhim’ is a beat that they legally acquired from a producer and it was later edited and arranged by their fellow producer, Varun. This single will get you grooving on the very moment you’ll press play for the first time. Vocal samples have a Rajasthani Folk sound to it and it is something that our community has not seen before. 808 driven bass line with snares that’ll make you wanna dance is simply outstanding. Thee Emenjay mixed this track to give it a fresh sound.
Let’s talk about the verses now. Puneet took the first slot and one can easily tell by his first line that they’ve created something commercial to keep their promise. But, wait! It’s not Yo Yo Honey Singh type of sound. We all know how his style of spitting rhymes is but for this particular track, he decided to go smooth. Marshall took over the second verse with his rather funny bars. He opens up his verse from “Chori laage manne tu jaisi dekhun adult posteron mein” and trust me, it’s just the beginning of his verse. Main-Dope Malhotra went last and spat the lines which were written by Puneet Kohli and it’s remarkable too. For me, Marshall owned this track.
After facing many problems while shooting the video. Marshall took it to his own hands and handled the work related with animations and graphics all by himself and delivered a video that is one of a kind. Marshall once told me “We did this track for fun but when it started to give us a hard time, we stood strong to create this beautiful single”. If this track was not made seriously, I can’t even begin to imagine what they’ll drop if they get down to business.
