Bollywood is mainly famous around the globe for its romantic songs, action and item numbers but there is one more interesting factor added to all this. And the factor is rapping. Yes, you read it right!
There are a number of Bollywood celebrities who have lent their voice for films but some have taken it the next level by rapping verses for movies and advertisements.
Rapping mainly originated in the west. The genre was dominated by African- Americans and is said to be originated from the streets of New York. It came to India only in the 90’s when desi rapper Baba Sehgal started this culture by contributing some hip-hop songs to an audience which was not familiar with the genre. But people of India actually liked it and the country soon saw the growth in the genre. Rappers like Bohemia who is considered as “King of Desi Hip Hop”, Hard Kaur, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Raftaar and Badshah to name a few.
