His stage name is BK and he is a singer/songwriter and rapper from Tripura. He is also one of the first rap artists from Tripura to have achieved success in the field. Borkung Hrangkhwal is passionate about his art and loves to collaborate with musicians from different musical backgrounds.

BK’s rap is unique to his style and is conscious politically and socially. He talks about racism, discrimination and injustices. His music has a message and a cause. BK started his career in music with a New Delhi based hip hop group called DropSquad. The group won the north zone round of a nation wide talent hunt contest called Superstars which got them signed to Times music in 2010. This was around the time, BK got chosen to be the opening act for Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi’s eighth album release event. The rapper then moved on to his own musical with his single The Roots (Chini Haa) in 2012 with a music video that got over 100,000 hits in three weeks. He wrote about what was closest to his heart- the socio-political situation of the minority, indigenous people of Tripura. This was followed by his solo debut album The Journey in 2013. The music video of the sing The Journey also went massively viral and he got the opportunity to open for the band Hoobastank when they debuted in India.

BK is still keeping it going strong and will be performing live at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender- December 2-4th, Pune edition.
