Beats By Nav – Punjabi Producer’s Rise to Fame


Navraj Singh Goraya aka Nav is a Punjabi Canadian rapper producer. Known for his trap beats and his rhymes, he rose to fame through Kylie Jenner’s snapchat when she lip-synced to one of Nav’s track ‘Myself’. In addition, the Toronto native has also contributed to production and writing of Drake’s hit diss track ‘Back To Back’.

Nav’s first track on SoundCloud “Take Me Simple” was uploaded on September 2015. Since then it has gained over 8.5 million views. As a matter of fact, Nav’s most recent accomplishment came in the form of a collaborative project he did with the hit maker Metro Boomin. The collaborative project ‘Perfect Timing’ was released on July 21, 2017 and has a crazy lineup of guest features which is Belly, Gucci Mane, 21 Savage, Playboy Carti, Lil Uzi Vert and Offset.

Furthermore, Nav is currently signed to The Weeknd’s label XO and also Republic Records. His collaboration with Travis Scott for ‘Beibs in the Trap’ is certified gold even though it did not get any airplay. Nav’s list of collaborations is filled with huge names who are dominating the billboards now.  With artists like 21 Savage, Drake, The Weeknd and many more, Nav has definitely solidified his spot in Hip-Hop.

Additionally, Nav made some heads turn for his controversial use of the ‘N’ word. Seems like this forced hip hop listeners to question the motive of South Asians using the term considered as derogatory. Apparently, Nav recently made a public statement stating he would refrain from using the word henceforth.
