Tata Sky in collaboration with Ogilvy & Mather and the superstar Amitabh Bachchan has come up with a campaign focused on the different content tastes that a family usually has, squabbling over the remote because they like such different things. This one is for the family and it’s called #FamilyJingalala. Amitabh is garbed in seven different puppet avatars and raps Yo-Se Yo-Se, it’s produced by the production house Rising Sun and shot by director Shoojit Sircar. The campaign is mainly targeted towards the 85% population outside of the metros.
Bachchan is a Bohemian playing seven different puppet-inspired characters- those of the showman and narrator rapper Thakur, the head of the Thakur clan, Thakur’s wife, son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons. Bachchan as rapper Thakur does a convincing job of how all the family needs are being met by Tata Sky which is the best DTH connection for a diverse dose of entertainment catering to everyone’s varied needs in a family. Bachchan was obviously hand picked to do this because the team believed no one else could be as powerful a person as him to get the message across and bring their vision to life like he would. The actor was apparently enthused and excited to do the character that was demanded of him.
The art direction, character detailing and execution of the ad was all part of making it super interesting to watch and the rap portion Yo-Se Yo-Se was specifically written so that the catchiness of it stays on people’s mind. The agenda behind casting People haven’t seen the actor in a rapper persona before and it adds to his diversity and is something so memorable to people. The rap is Indianised and almost sounds Rajasthani which the team hopes will be unique to people’s ears.
