14 years ago, Eminem dropped ‘Lose Yourself’

I do not know if it was coincidental or serendipity but I was jamming out the Adrenalin anthem, ‘Lose Yourself’ and this track came out today exactly 14 years ago. It was the OST for his debut movie 8 Mile. The song was written and produced by Eminem himself and has gone on to get an anthem like status,

“Lose Yourself” is often looked upon as one of Eminem’s best work if not the best he has ever made. It received positive reviews from from music critics, everyone complimented every aspect of the track from the lyrics to the production of the track describing it as Eminem’s best work to date. This track did not just top the charts in the US but in eighteen countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia.

“Lose Yourself” was the first rap song to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2003 and the track also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance in 2004. In the same year it also made Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time”, Rolling Stone also ranked it one of the top 50 hip hop songs of all time. The song was certified quintuple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and as of October 2016, it has 6.8 million downloads in the United States alone. It was ranked number 93 on AFI’s 100 Years… 100 Songs list. In October 2011, NME placed it at number 57 on its list “150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years”

Maybe it is a good day to bump the track again.
