Indian Flute – Timbaland & Magoo

Feature: Raje Shwari

In this song, Timbaland should be praised for attempting to speak Punjabi on the “Indian Flute” as he sings, “Aaja Sohniye Mein Pyar Kiya” which basically means, “Come here Beautiful I love you”. He got this flirting tip from Indian artist Raje Shwari. She rocked on a few other hip-hop tracks apart from this.

“Give It To Me” Mob Deep Featuring Young Buck

Sample: Alka Yagnik, Manpreet Akhtar and Udit Narayan- “Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aaye”

Mob Deep sampled this famous Indian song on their hit track “ Give It To Me”. You can find the “Ahh Ahhs” in the background, they could choose it from any other track but they decide to sample Alka Yagnik’s song. Good choice, fellas. It made the song even better.

“React” Erick Semon Featuring Redman

Sample: Mohammed Rafi and Aasha Bhosle- “Chandi Ka Badan”

Great song, but when you sample songs in a different language you don’t understand a single word, this was the case with Erick Sermon and Redman when they say, “Whatever she said, then I’m that. Um okay”. Overall a good song.

Sample: Solas- “Maid On The Shore”

In this song, Timbaland maintained the integrity of the original sound recording by taking the beat and keeping the melody for his own song, the song has a South-East Asian influence which made it more popular.

Sample: Punjabi MC- “Mundian To Bach Ke”

Everything Hovah touches turns into gold, but this time the credit goes to the opening beat sampled from this Punjabi song. It all started when Punjabi MC released a song called “Mundian To Bach Ke” and then Jay-Z jumped on the track as a feature so they translated it into English “Beware Of The Boys”

Sample: Aasha Bhosle- “Aye Naujawan Sab Kuch Yaham”

Black Eyed Peas featured this song in their hit song “Don’t Phunk With My Heart”. Not only the beat but Fergie sings that “Oh, No No No Don’t Phunk With My Heart” in the same melody as Asha Bhosle’s. They must me Bhosle’s fans, as they have featured one more song “Kisi Ki Jaan Lete Hain” for “My Humps” as well.

Sample: Parvati Khan- “Jimmy Jimmy Aaja”

M.I.A sampled the famous Indian song Jimmy Aaja in her song. M.I.A’s song is almost like a cover of Parvati Khan’s track as everything from the beat to the hook is identical.

Big Pimpin Jay-Z Featuring UGK

Sample: Hossam Ramzy- “Khusara Khusara”

This track was sampled by Timbaland from Hossan Ramzy’s song for Jay-Z. They both were sued for sampling the song for Five million dollars. The lawsuit was dismissed but if continued it would have been the most expensive price for a beat paid by both the artists.
